Rina Malerman earned a B.F.A., and a B.S. in Ed. from the Tyler School of Fine Arts of Temple University. She is represented in numerous private and public collections, including the Wistar Institute, Temple University, and the Print Collection of the Tyler School of Fine Arts.
As printmaker, she specialized in unusual media including color etchings, viscosity prints, and color collagraphs. She studied with Naomi Limont and Romas Viesulas. She taught art at The Miquon School, and at Harcum Junior College, and served as guest lecturer on experimental printmaking at Lehigh University.
Ms. Malerman is also known as a painter of portraits that have a high emotional impact. Her portrait commissions hang in public and private collections in the Delaware Valley, as well as New York, New Jersey, Florida, and California.
In addition to printmaking, her media include Collagraphs, handmade cast paper, and etchings.
Newt Malerman also earned his B.F.A. and B.S. in Ed. at Tyler. He studied sculpture with Boris Blai and Raphael Sabatini, and Welding with Raphael Ferrar. He was Director of Art at the laboratory school of The Temple University Teachers College. He later became president of a large graphics-oriented business.
Mr. Malerman is represented in private collections in Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Palm Beach. His public work includes architectural sculpture for Temple Shalom, Cedar Grove, N.J., and for the Holmes Avenue branch of the Philadelphia Public Library, where he worked with Louis B. Kahn, who juried the project.
He has exhibited at many art shows, and won first prize in sculpture at the Phillips Mill Bucks County Annual. He and Rina have also exhibited in several two-person shows, including an extensive retrospective at Lehigh University.
He continues his work in mixed media, including welded metals and glass.
